Dr Paul Herreen
- FANZCA Specialist Anaesthetist
Dr Herreen studied medicine at Flinders University. He completed his internship and basic surgical training in SA followed by many years of experience in surgical work and particularly orthopaedic surgery in SA, ACT and WA. Dr Herreen completed specialist training in anaesthesia in SA, becoming a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2000.
Dr Herreen has a full-time private practice with Specialist Anaesthetic Services. His practice encompasses a broad range of surgical specialties, focussing on eye surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics, plastic and reconstructive surgery.
His special interests include anaesthesia for obstetrics, regional anaesthesia, the use of ultrasound guidance for regional anaesthesia and improving pre-hospital assessment and preparation of patients in the private sector.
He has served on various committees and is currently a committee member for the Day Surgery Special Interest Group and is the anaesthetic representative on the Perinatal Review Committee at North Eastern Community Hospital.
Dr Herreen attends and participates in continuing medical education at a local and national level. He previously assisted in the planning of a national scientific meeting with the ASA and is currently involved in planning (and presenting) educational sessions with the Day Surgery SIG. He also assists SAS with teaching and exam preparation of final exam candidates.
He is a member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists, the Obstetric Anaesthetists Association UK, the American Society of Regional Anaesthesia and several ANZCA Special Interest Groups (regional anaesthesia, Welfare of anaesthetists, Obstetrics and Day surgery)
